December 03, 2023 – It was time for the second annual Chillerpillar event in support of Braeden Davis and his continued fight against cancer, so the community showed up to support in a big way!
The Main Event
Andrew was gutted that he was urgently required elsewhere when it came to the week of the event, but he quickly organized for people to step in and take over portions of what he was doing for Chillerpillar. Truth be told – it took 5 or 6 of us to take on tasks he planned for himself, Andrew is an absolute legend of a human being. Without his hard work, we wouldn’t have been there. We are all honored to be a part of what he’s created here in Kamloops with the Chillerpillar!
Everyone pulled together as a community and had a great time slinging magic spells together, regardless. After all, it was about being there to show our support for one of our own, a community member. After 6 rounds of swiss, we had a cut to top 8 in the main event, and a line up of players ready to get into the second event – a LEGACY tournament that ended up having 17 total entries!
We had a late entry during round 1 after starting with 16
Finally, after 3 rounds of top 8 playoffs we had determined a winner for the prestigious Chillerpillar playmat!

Chillerpillar Legacy Side Event
The Legacy event was absolutely WILD. Luke Warkotsch swung for the fences, entering the event with his modern deck – Hammer Time! He seemed unstoppable until he ran into Ken Darlington on Standstill in the finals!
The Future
We are already planning for next year’s event – and we want to see it grow even more. We’ve taken feedback from players, staff and sponsors. Our plan is to continue to make this bigger and better along with you, our awesome MTG community.
Event Sponsors
We’d like to offer a huge thank you to our other event sponsors, and urge you to go and check out these community heroes who showed massive support for this great event!
